Games That Slipped Under the Radar ...

Adventure Point strives to support independent Adventure developers as much

as possible. Here are three great examples that are still available for purchase.

Force Majeure II: The Zone

Ever wondered what it would be like to be the sole survivor of an unknown, and terrible, catastrophe? 'The Zone – a place where your own mind is your enemy.'. With a fine soundtrack and a thought-provoking plot, Leo Nordwall's Force Majeure II: The Zone, at just 5 Euros, is most definitely an unique gaming experience. Demos, soundtrack, a trailer, and the game itself (English gameplay), can be acquired HERE and HERE.

The Lost City of Malathedra

Jonathan Wolfe has long since left his home and family in search of the secret of eternal life which, if legend is to be believed, resides within the Lost City of Malathedra. Many years later, Rebecca receives a letter asking her to join her father and suggesting that he's on the brink of an amazing discovery. More info, demos and screenshots can be found HERE, and the game itself can be purchased HERE.

Visitors' Book

Mystery Island II

An underrated Adventure, with some innovative puzzles, Mystery Island II is available for both Mac and Windows as a download. Something of a cross between Haruhiko Shono's L-Zone and Blue Byte's Mac only Adventure, The Castle, Mystery Island II is a highly commendable effort by the Koingo development team. If you'd like to support their work, this short, but excellent, game can be purchased directly from HERE.

 On the Horizon ...

Society of the Serpent Moon

Loyal fans of William R. Fisher's Last Half of Darkness series of extremely spooky Adventure games will be chomping at the bit in eager anticipation of this next exciting installment. WRF Studios has consistently maintained a high level of quality in its graphically rich and nail-bitingly suspenseful Adventures of late. Last Half of Darkness: Society of the Serpent Moon promises more of the edge-of-the-seat thrills to which we have become accustomed. This time there are ghastly tales of vampire-like murderers roaming the dark streets and alleyways of a beautiful French town. Can YOU uncover its secrets? More information, including a demo and stunning screenshots can be found HERE. The game's release is anticipated later this year. If the high standards set by Mr Fisher's previous games is anything to go by, we're in for a real treat!

 Oldie of the Month ...

Stupid Invaders

With bags of outrageously risque humour - sometimes bordering on the downright crude - hilarious characters, a completely potty storyline, beautiful graphics and an incredibly catchy soundtrack, Stupid Invaders is one of those too often forgotten gems of Adventure gaming history. Two bits of advice! One, check that you're one of those individuals with a broad minded sense of humour because, if you're easily offended by lude references and copious quantities of toilet jokes (and toliet noises!), believe me, you WILL be! Two, if you pass the test of 'piece of advice' number one, find this game and play it as VERY SOON as possible! You won't regret it. In fact, the only regrettable thing about Stupid Invaders is the fact that the much hoped for sequel never materialised. Lots of goodies still exist on the Stupid Invaders website, including screenshots, trailers, cast profiles, wallpapers and lots else besides.

 Freebies of the Month ...

Something Amiss

Something Amiss is an Adventure game made by an independent developer, and playable for free. It's a Flash game and it's divided into chapters - three currently. The game is of an extremely high standard, not just for a freeware game, but even comparing very favourably with many of the commercially available games around today. The environments are 3D, and beautifully rendered, and the story is engrossing. Play it HERE.

Boat House

Boat House is one of those fiendishly clever 'Escape The Room' games in which all the action takes place in a confined area, and the objective is to escape. Whilst not being one of the most difficult games of its type it's a pretty good introduction to the room escape type of game. The puzzles - some involving codes - are clever and fair, and the graphics, whilst sparing in terms of richness, are clean and satisfyingly crisp.

Text Adventure of the Month ...

Mother Loose (by Irene Callaci)

. . is a cracking little Text Adventure that was written by Irene Callaci as part of the annual IF-competition in 1998. It began 'life' as a simple game for her daughter, but turned out to be a moderate sized piece, perfect for entry into the competition. The game has a mixture of humour, fairy tale and a sprinkling of menace just right for a 7 year old, and some great puzzles. Check out the Mad For Text! pages of this website for further information on playing this Z-code game. The game can be downloaded HERE.
